Unit fluency is a quiet superpower. The difference between 300 mg and 300 g is a thousand-fold dose error. The difference between 60 km/h and 60 mph is 37% faster than it feels. The difference between a 32 oz drink and a 32 fl oz drink is "there is no difference, unless you're weighing whipped cream." Every one of these is a real failure mode in a kitchen, a pharmacy, a construction site, or a cockpit.

This quiz builds the quick-check instinct — the mental alarm that says "that number feels wrong for those units." Tips for teachers and parents

The quiz was designed to be played at the board or on a shared tablet. Each question's explanation is itself a mini-lesson — you can pause after the answer reveals and talk through why it's right. Common threads:

  • SI prefixes are powers of ten: kilo (10³), mega (10⁶), giga (10⁹). Getting one wrong changes the answer by 1000×.
  • US-customary and metric look similar but aren't. US cup ≠ metric cup. US gallon (3.785 L) ≠ UK gallon (4.546 L).
  • "Calorie" means two different things. Food Calories are kilocalories; chemistry calories are 1/1000 of that.
  • Temperature scales don't share a zero. The two cross at -40 (both Celsius and Fahrenheit read -40°).
